Search data is the most honest feedback you'll ever get

Users don't lie to your search bar. Every query is an unfiltered expression of intent — what they want, in their own words, right now. Most teams ignore this data entirely. The ones who track it consistently improve conversion rates, reduce support volume, and discover product opportunities they never knew existed.

Metrics explained

Every metric that matters — and why

Total searches

The total number of search queries submitted through your widget in a given time period. Use this to measure search adoption and correlate with traffic changes.

Why it matters

Rising trends indicate users are engaging with search. Flat trends while traffic grows may mean your widget placement or trigger isn't visible enough.

Click-through rate (CTR)

The percentage of searches that result in the user clicking at least one result. A healthy CTR is typically 60–80% for e-commerce and 50–70% for documentation.

Why it matters

Low CTR means users see results but don't trust them. Investigate your top queries with low CTR and check if the results are actually relevant.

Zero-result rate

The percentage of searches that return no results. This is your most actionable metric — every zero-result query is a user who left empty-handed.

Why it matters

Review your zero-result queries weekly. Each one is either missing content, an indexing gap, or a naming mismatch between your catalog and how users talk about it.

Top queries

The most frequently searched terms across your site. This data tells you what your users actually want — not what you think they want.

Why it matters

Use top queries to prioritize content, optimize product descriptions, and ensure your highest-demand items are perfectly indexed and ranked.

Turn data into action

Improve conversions with search data

Search analytics aren't just a reporting tool — they're a conversion optimization playbook. Every metric points to a specific action you can take to improve your site.

High zero-result rate on a product name?
Your users are searching for something you sell but your index doesn't surface it. Check your field mapping, synonyms, and product descriptions.
Low CTR on a high-volume query?
Your results are showing up but users aren't clicking. The top results may be irrelevant — review your ranking configuration for that query.
Unexpected top query you've never seen?
Demand signal. Your users want something you haven't built or featured yet. Prioritize it.
Search volume spiking for a specific term?
Could indicate a trending topic, a product launch, or a PR moment. Make sure your results for that query are perfect.

Zero setup. Automatic tracking.

No analytics code to write. No events to instrument. It just works.

01

Embed the widget

Paste one script tag on your site. The RayoSearch widget handles the search UI and automatically logs every query, impression, and click in the background.

02

Data flows automatically

Every search event is captured server-side — no client-side analytics library needed. Your dashboard starts populating immediately.

03

Act on the insights

Review your weekly top queries, zero-result reports, and CTR trends in the dashboard. Make content and ranking improvements with confidence.

Common questions

Does search analytics cost extra?

No. Analytics are included with every RayoSearch plan — including the free beta. There's nothing to enable or install separately.

What data is collected?

RayoSearch logs search queries, the number of results returned, click events (which result was clicked), and session identifiers. No personal data or PII is collected or stored.

How far back does data go?

Analytics are available from the day you install the widget. Historical data from before RayoSearch is not available unless exported from another tool.

Can I export my search data?

Data export is on the roadmap. During beta, the dashboard provides all the key metrics. Raw data export will be available in a future update.

What about GDPR / privacy?

RayoSearch does not collect user-identifiable data. Session IDs are anonymous and not linked to accounts, cookies, or device fingerprints.
